Issues

Mark Twin stated the two most important days in all of our lives are the day we were born and the day we found out why. For him, he found out “why” after a tragic event that occurred in his hometown when he was 19 years old. And he has looked for opportunities to serve ever since. Being elected to the Council provides another opportunity to serve you and the town we all love.

Dr. Woodrow pledges to:

Provide a fresh voice with proven leadership experience

When the same members of a group work together over an extended period, they sometimes begin to think as one—groupthink. While groupthink can be positive or negative, adding a fresh voice with proven leadership experience to the group should improve its efficiency. When this happens, the taxpayers of Sunnyvale benefit.

Promote easily accessible resident-driven leadership

If elected, he pledges to respond promptly to individual community priorities. You will have a direct line to resident-driven leadership. This is how it should be. He is asking for your vote so that he can advocate for your values and interests. Plainly stated: “If you are against it, he will vote against it. If you are for it, he will vote for it.” His vote will reflect your values. He will work for you. Vote for your interests.

Ensure fiscally responsible expenditures of tax dollars

He has planned and implemented multimillion dollar budgets as a leader. Further, in his professional capacity at the university level, he teaches graduate courses that examine financial, budgetary, and capital resources that focus on theory as well as management. It is obvious he would bring a special awareness to our Council that should benefit you as a taxpayer—hope you agree.

Support Sunnyvale’s rural attributes and work to improve its travel infrastructure

His dad was a military veteran, a peace officer, and a city councilman. Dr. Woodrow would bring a remarkable appreciation to our Council for leadership governance and for the invaluable work of our peace officers. He wants to protect Sunnyvale’s uniquely safe and friendly small-town attributes with walkable friendly neighborhoods that support environmental integrity. He also is an advocate for neighborhood watch programs.

Further, we all enjoy the friendly small-town characteristics of Sunnyvale—the “Goldilocks” community. He believes Sunnyvale does not have too much or too little of the attributes we all love. Our challenge is to plan for appropriate growth while at the same time preserving Sunnyvale’s popular features.

Doing it this way protects your property value. Here, we can relax and breathe. Maintaining the serenity we enjoy should not be taken for granted. He is asking for your vote so that he can support your values. Gradualism can go unnoticed until it is too late. Now is the time to act by voting Woodrow for Place 6.

To minimize traffic congestion during peak hours, he will advocate for infrastructure enhancements of Sunnyvale’s roads that provide efficient and safe traffic flow. He has been a longtime backer for additional sidewalks to ensure children can walk safely to and from school.

Further, he is committed to animal control, and he supports the Sunnyvale Animal Shelter which needs facility enhancements.

Advocate for Sunnyvale’s superior educational system—students, teachers, and parents

He is a strong supporter of Sunnyvale’s educational team—parents, students, and teachers. He often says, “Show me a strong school system, I will show you a thriving community. Education breathes life into any community.”
